Children of Greater Tonb: MIDAF’s New Allies in Marine Conservation

2025-Octobr-11

On the occasion of World Children's and Environment Day 2025, MIDAF  collaborated with the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) of Hormozgan Province to bring environmental education to Greater Tonb Island.
This pristine and beautiful island marked the opening of its IIDCYA center with a special program dedicated to environmental awareness. MIDAF, committed to marine biodiversity and community-based education, was invited to lead sessions focused on marine ecosystems and coastal conservation for children and teenagers.
Over two days, young participants explored the wonders of the sea, learning about marine life, ecological balance, and the importance of protecting their island’s natural heritage. The program concluded with a field visit to the island’s shoreline, where children, guided by MIDAF educators, enthusiastically identified coastal species and engaged in hands-on discovery.
The children of Greater Tonb Island demonstrated remarkable curiosity and eagerness to learn. MIDAF hopes these educational efforts will continue and empower these bright young minds—future guardians of biodiversity—to take active roles in protecting their environment.
