Setareh is a passionate advocate for the sea and its incredible creatures. Her journey began with a deep love for the ocean, which led her to help establish the **Midaf Nature Conservation Association**. She believes that, as a community, we have a responsibility to amplify the voice of nature and take meaningful steps to protect the marine ecosystems that are such an integral part of Iran's identity.
With a strong academic background, Setareh earned her Bachelor's and master’s degrees in marine biology and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in the same field. Her fascination with the sea started in her childhood in Bandar Abbas, where she was captivated by the ocean's beauty and wonders every day. However, over the years, she has witnessed significant changes, realizing that the shores and seas she once cherished are now facing serious challenges due to human and natural activities. This realization inspired her to dedicate her career to conservation biology. Today, she serves as a technology assistant in the **National Action Plan for Sharks and Rays in Iran**, where she works to protect these vital species.
In her research, Setareh is exploring the extraction of natural marine compounds from waste generated during fish processing. Her goal is to find sustainable solutions that add value to these by-products while promoting responsible use of marine resources.
Setareh firmly believes that protecting and sustaining the biodiversity of the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea starts with educating local communities and building strong relationships among all stakeholders. She is convinced that every one of us can contribute, no matter how small the action may seem, to the preservation of our precious marine habitats. With her determination and passion, Setareh is dedicated to creating a brighter future for the sea and all its inhabitants.
